Mary Catherine ‘Cathie’ (Smoot) Meador

CROSS PLAINS Mary Catherine ‘Cathie' (Smoot) Meador, age 75, died Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at her home.


Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2008, at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Matt McGowen officiating. Burial will follow in the Sabanno Cemetery.


Cathie was born on May 21, 1933, to W.N. and Mary Ella (Wood) Smoot in Ranger, Texas. She married T.O. Meador in Cisco, Texas, on June 10, 1949. She was the mother of three: a son and two daughters. She enjoyed crafts and embroidery as well as sewing. She was a member of the Pioneer Baptist Church.


She is survived by her husband, T.O. Meador of Pioneer; two daughters, Shirley Smith and husband, Jerry, of Pioneer and Janice McKinney and husband, Jerry, of Mulberry, Arkansas; one brother, Odean Smoot and wife, Shirley of Pioneer; two sisters, Kay Thompson and husband, Ott of Blanket, Texas, and Barbara Henson and husband, Arnold of Waco; and sister-in-law, Judy Smoot of Eula, Texas; seven grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She leaved behind not only her family, but numerous nieces, nephews and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Lynn Meador; brother, Bill Smoot; and sister, Martha Mae Smoot.
