LETTER: Pittenger not ready for the U.S. Senate
I appreciate all of the hard work that all of the candidates are undertaking as they campaign for their respective offices. However, I am getting tired of the lawyer bashing that seems to be a part of some of certain candidates’ speeches.
Mrs. Pittenger spoke on Jan. 11, at the MCRW here in Midland. During her speech, she told the audience that the many lawyers in Washington, D.C., are part of our nation’s problems. I disagree. The real problem is not the presence of lawyers; the real problem is the lack of people with a solid moral character and compass.
Also, some of the finest Christian people here in the Midland/Odessa community are currently practicing law or have practiced law at some point in their careers. Those vying to be a United States senator need to have a keen sense of discernment. Mrs. Pittenger does not seem to be able to discern and distinguish between a person’s God-inspired profession and a person’s character.
By the way Mrs. Pittenger, our country’s first Republican president was a lawyer.
