>> ALPINE John Martin “Marty” Davis of Dallas/Fort Worth will deliver the 19th annual Mary Thomas Marshall Lecture at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Sul Ross State University in the Espino Conference Center, University Center.

Davis of Dallas/Fort Davis will address “The Cadillac Jack Collector’s Protocol.”

Following the lecture and question-and-answer session, the university will host a reception in the University Center. There is no admission charge and the public is invited.

Davis is both an attorney and an accountant, and is senior partner of Davis, Clark and Co., a Dallas accounting firm. He also serves as board chair of the King Foundation.

However, his first love is collecting eclectic items including maps, land warrants, Confederate documents, Goofus glass, Haitian folk art, religious art, Smithers lamps and numerous other collectibles.

>> ALPINE Michael Duty, director of the Dallas Historical Society, will present a lecture, in conjunction with the 21st annual Trappings of Texas, at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Sul Ross State University in Lawrence Hall, Room 309.

Duty will address “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Critical Analysis of Western Art.”

The public is invited and there is no admission charge.

Duty also serves as curator of art for Trappings, scheduled Friday and Saturday at the Museum of the Big Bend.

He is a writer and lecturer of western art. His most recent book is “Western Traditions: Contemporary Artists of the American West.”

He is the former director of the California Historical Society; was director of the Eiteljorg Museum of Western Art, Indianapolis, and the Rockwell Museum, Corning, N.Y.

He began his career at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth.

>> The Ector County Library has scheduled free computer classes at 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday and Thursday at the library, 321 W. Fifth St.

Classes will be on computer basics, introduction to Microsoft Word and Internet basics.

>> The Permian Basin Master Gardener Program has scheduled a training and volunteer program from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Wednesday, through mid-May at the Ector County Extension office, 1010 E. Eighth St.

>> ESL and Citizenship classes is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday at Belmont Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth St.

The class is intended for those wanting to learn English as a second language and those who are studying for the citizenship test.

The class is free, but there is a minimal cost for materials.

Free childcare is available during class time.

>> GED (General Educational Development) classes are scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the Tree of Life Foursquare Church, 1325 E. Fourth St. Bilingual classes are available. Classes are free and open to the public. Call 332-3689.

>> Ballroom/Latin Dance group class instructions are scheduled as follows at the Love To Dance Studio, 2817 JBS Parkway, Suite E-1:

Tuesdays: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for beginners (couples and singles).

Thursdays: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for intermediate/advanced students.

Group classes include instructions in salsa, cha-cha, rumba, merengue, waltz, fox trot, swing and tango.

For the beginner/intermediate class, students must know basic, right turn and cross body lead.

Each class fee is $10 per person.

>> The West Texas Singles Association offers dance lessons from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Monday night at the Moose Lodge, 2711 N. Dixie Blvd. Dances taught are the two-step, the waltz, swing and line dances.

>> The Allemanders Square Dancing Club hosts round and square dances at the Northside Senior Citizens Center, 1225 N. Adams Ave.
