>> arual22: "I live behind the shopping center with the billards palace in it. You can actually hear when everyone leaves. The other night I was woken up by someone on a motorcycle spinning their tires in the parking lot. You also hear the employees dumping trash.
What people do not know is that there is another application for a bar in the old chinese restaurant in this shopping center. There is no information about this bar and I have not been notified by letter (my property is only about 20 ft from this location).
The traffic on 8th street from the bars is bad enough already. I am all for these empty spaces being used for business, but I would prefer that the business not be a nightclub in my backyard."
>> stand4something: "I heard that that night club is going to be very organized. With a jazz club in it. And When people come in they have to dress decent. Also the security is going to be way better then all the other night clubs. I feel real good about this. Its going to be a classy place. Better then what we have now. But you know people in odessa dont like change. So we are never going to build. Thats why people leave...Hello."
>> jr2385: "I too live near a nightclub and actually also located on 8th street, its not a big problem at all, the noise cant even be heard either. This man is trying to open something up that will bring odessas nightlife up a little, i see that as good thing it gets people to have some sort of entertainment. as far as the drunk go, I havent had any problems"
>> ilovejolie86: "Another bar isn't what Odessa needs. I would definitely be more open to some sort of ‘Family Fun Center'. There is nothing to do in this town with young kids other than go to a rundown so-called park or go to Gattiland!
"I agree truthpursuer, it just sounds like drunk driving waiting to happen. I suppose I have a stronger opinion about it since attending Anthony Piervincenti's funeral almost 5 years ago, though."
>> truthpursuer: "Another massive bar or private party floor on a major traffic artery. Does that sound like a stupid idea to anyone else?
"I remember a friend's brother dying and causing severe injuries in others when he punched his gas, drunk, coming out Grahams on 42nd street. His estimated speed was 90 mph. That kind of thing ought to be a nice addition to 8th street. After all, Graham's has been such a vital enhancement to UTPB; cultural literacy you know."
>> mexichic: "Nightclubs: heaven to some, hell to others.
"I say do it! We need change~ Classy and clean cubs!"
>> beautyandbrains: "Hmmmm. Well it does SOUND good. But a couple years ago a new ‘club' opened up. I was hired and was part of the opening staff. We were told dress code was VERY serious. The dress code was similar to the one they are trying to implement here. It worked out for a while but then, when it started to chase off customers, they started to slack on it. Now they have been open two years and you can wear almost anything in there. I hope this club is different - but I am not holding my breath."
