THE POLL: What should Brian Swearengin’s sentence have been?
>> Life without parole: 17 percent (13 vote)
>> Death: 77 percent (59 vote)
>> I don’t think he was guilty: 6 percent (5 votes)
>> copmom79: “Judge Smith didn’t give him the death penalty because the State of Texas, Mr. Bobby Bland, didn’t seek the death penalty. The decision to go for the death penalty is up the the District Attorney. Maybe everyone who feels this scumbag should have gotten death should question Mr. Bland and the decisions he makes as District Attorney.”
>> whoru2judgethem: “something like this is very unexpected and you never think it will ever be the subject you talk about when you live on the same street. first off who are we to judge anyone!! opionions can be made for or against and when you know them its really hard to accept or believe what just went on she was a neighbor down the street and he was the neighbor down the street, we saw him grow up and was always the type of person(TO US) respectful and always willing to help. he grew up with our nieces and played ball in the street with our kids the type of guy that we would never expect them to say awful things about. If we had felt that bryan was a bad person or a threat we would of removed ourselves from the friendship that we had grown with him over the years but he was never a threat to us or our family!! hard to explain what happened that night or what went wrong !!! Bryan you are in our prayers along with your family!! GOD FORGIVES!! I know that responses will come out over what we wrote but everyone has their opinion !!! FREEDOM USE IT!”
>> jaded2: “About God forgiving, dear. Yes, He does forgive you but He does not say that you get to avoid the consequences.
Exodus 21:12 reads:
Anyone who strikes a man and kills him shall surely be put to death.
14 But if a man schemes and kills another man deliberately, ***take him away from my altar*** and put him to death.
So he may be forgiven if he asks it, for his SOUL.”
