Man faces four felony charges

What started as a misdemeanor drug arrest escalated into four felony charges Sunday.

Florencio Ramirez III, 13550 W. Citation Drive, was being held Monday at the Ector County Detention Center on bonds totaling $40,500. He was charged in connection with assault and retaliation against a public servant and two counts of harassing a public servant.

According to reports, deputies were in the process of arresting Ramirez, 24, when they said he hit an officer in the face, threatened bodily harm on another and spit on two more during his arrest by the office’s SWAT team.

Ramirez was also charged with possession of marijuana, a class B misdemeanor.
