NUGGETS: Secrets revealed in the record of Christ's birth

Linney is a nondenominational pastor in Stanton

The birth of Jesus was recorded, of course, to show mankind the awesome miracle of how all things are possible with God, the creator of the universe.

This was expressed in His ability to bring forth a virgin birth. There are many religions, but only one that has a savior. That savior is the only person born of a virgin, suffered, died for us and was resurrected and seated at the right hand of God the Father. Jesus is the only one that qualifies to be our savior.

This record has many secrets that are patterns for our life in this generation and every generation. Just before the birth of Jesus, His parents were instructed to travel to Bethlehem to be registered for tax purposes. While they were there, the time was completed for His birth. Now this was no surprise to God. In fact He had it planned that way. He wanted Jesus to be born in Bethlehem. The word Bethlehem means “House of Bread.” All through the word, Jesus is called our “Bread.”

There was a time for His birth, He already was, and He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. That was the time for the spirit of Christ to be a birth into a flesh body. Because He was willing to come as a baby and suffer and die that our sins can be forgiven, He paid the price for our flesh bodies to be birthed into the spiritual realm. There is a time of completion for our “Born Again” experience. The Holy Spirit draws and woos us to Jesus. We are convicted that we are sinners and come to a place to cry out to God, the Creator of the universe to forgive us of our sins. Then we ask Jesus into our heart. We are then transformed and new. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

No one can even imagine the experience until it happens to them, it’s like trying to explain how a piece of cherry pie tastes, to someone who has never even seen a cherry. We can tell how good it is, how wonderful it taste and how we would never want to be without the hope of that pie in our future, yet they would still not know how wonderful cherry pie is until they taste it. Cherry is not even in the running with the experience of our love, hope and faith in Jesus Christ. He is way too big to try and explain.

Then in the record of the birth of Jesus we see He was born in a stable. That also was no accident. God made them no reservation in the inn because the savior of the world was destined to be born in a stable. The stable revealed that our savior was attainable to all people in all walks of life, every race color and creed of every age. No one is so bad that Jesus does not love them; no sin is so big that He will not forgive.

In this time of the whole world celebrating the birth of Christ Jesus, are you feeling a drawing to Him? Is there emptiness in you that cries out for a change? Jesus is the one who can make the real difference. If you know Him, cry out for Him to renew you in Him. If you don’t know Him, call on Him to forgive you, come into your heart and reveal His wonderful secrets to you today. You will never be sorry!
