Week of 2/20 - 2/27

BASTROP: Water clear. Black bass are good on red/white spinnerbaits, crankbaits, and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are fair on minnows and green tube jigs over brush piles. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait, liver, shrimp, and minnows. Yellow catfish are slow.

BELTON: Water clear; 52 degrees; 0.29’ high. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows in 20 - 30 feet under lights at night. Channel and blue catfish are good on hot dogs and Spam. Yellow catfish are good on juglines baited with live perch and goldfish.

BROWNWOOD: Water stained; 58 degrees; 2.07’ low. Black bass are good on chartreuse jigs and watermelon soft plastics in 10 - 30 feet. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on Li’l Fishies and minnows over brush piles in 10 - 30 feet. Channel catfish are very good on stinkbait, minnows, and frozen shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

BUCHANAN: Water clear; 59 degrees; 1.95’ low. Black bass are fair suspending Rattlin' Rogues, Carolina rigged black/blue lizards, 1/8oz. black/chartreuse Curb’s hair jigs with smoke/gold flake JDC RocKraw trailers, and blue flake Whacky Sticks on jigheads along ledges in 10 - 20 feet. Striped bass are fair drifting live bait, and trolling white/chartreuse Curb’s striper jigs and Rattlin' Rogues in 28 feet. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows over brush piles in 12 - 15 feet. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 60 degrees; 0.05’ high. Black bass are fair on Rattlin’ Rouges, 1/8oz. pumpkin Curb’s hair jigs, and chartreuse Devil’s Tongues on secondary points and ledges. Striped bass are fair to good trolling Ľoz. white Curb’s striper jigs and vertically jigging Pirk Minnows and Spoiler Shads. White bass are fair jigging Pirk Minnows and Ľoz. Blade Baits along the main river channel at mid lake in 40 feet. Smallmouth bass are very good on JDC smoke/red flake tubes, tomato red curl tail grubs, and tomato red drop shot worms over rock piles in 12 - 25 feet. Crappie are fair on minnows and crappie jigs upriver. Channel catfish are slow. Yellow and blue catfish are slow.

COLEMAN: Water clear; 57 degrees. Black bass are good on watermelon red soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits, and on chartreuse Rat-L-Traps. Hybrid striper are good on minnows. Crappie are good on minnows over brush piles. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait, liver, and frozen shrimp. Yellow catfish are slow.

COLORADO RIVER: (At Colorado Bend State Park) Water murky. Black bass are slow. Striped bass are slow. White bass are fair on minnows and white jigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and small white tube jigs. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and frozen shrimp in deep holes.

FAYETTE: Water lightly stained; 64 degrees. Black bass are fair on watermelon red, green pumpkin, and redbug Carolina rigged soft plastics off deep points, and on spinnerbaits, Rat-L-Traps, Senkos, flukes, and soft plastics in shallow areas. Channel and blue catfish are fair on juglines baited with shad.

GRANBURY: Water clear; 1.18’ low. Black bass are good on watermelon and pumpkinseed soft plastics, and on chartreuse Rat-L-Traps. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on minnows and green tube jigs. Catfish are good on frozen shrimp, liver, and stinkbait.

GRANGER: Water murky; 48 degrees; 0.44’ high. Black bass are good on jigs along shallow banks upriver. White bass are fair on white grubs upriver near the primitive launch. Crappie are fair on jigs upriver in 2 feet, and in brush piles near Fox Park. Blue catfish are fair on prepared bait and shad. Yellow catfish are slow.

LBJ: Water stained; 60 degrees; 5.08’ low. The lake has been drawn down five feet to allow homeowners to clean up damage and debris from the flood of July 2007. It will be refilled beginning 25 Feb. Most boat ramps are unusable, and the channel is dangerous.

NAVARRO MILLS: Water lightly stained; 49 degrees; 0.95’ low. Black bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are good on red/chartreuse tailed tube jigs off docks and over brush in 4 - 8 feet. Channel and blue catfish are fair on stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow.

PROCTOR: Water clear; 51 degrees; 0.31’ low. Black bass are fair on deep running crankbaits and worms off points. Striped bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows near the dam and over brush piles in 12 - 15 feet. Channel and blue catfish to 35 pounds are good on live shad and goldfish in 22 - 25 feet. Yellow catfish are slow.

SOMERVILLE: Water murky; 0.11’ high. Black bass are slow. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are excellent on minnows, and on tube jigs with red heads and green skirts. Channel and blue catfish are fair on nightcrawlers and minnows. Yellow catfish are slow.

STILLHOUSE: Water clear; 58 degrees; 0.04’ high. Black bass are slow. White bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are fair on hot dogs and nightcrawlers. Yellow catfish are slow.

TRAVIS: Water clear; 57 degrees; 1.29’ high. Black bass to 8 pounds are good on Brush Hogs, Senkos, and chartreuse crankbaits in 8 - 20 feet. Striped bass to 4 pounds are fair on jigging spoons and minnows in 38 - 55 feet. White bass are good on minnows and silver jigging spoons in 35 - 48 feet. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs in 25 - 40 feet. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

WALTER E. LONG: Water clear; 60 degrees. Black bass are good on minnows and chartreuse soft plastics. Hybrid striper are good on minnows and cut bait. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are slow. Yellow catfish are slow.

WHITNEY: Water stained; 7.12’ low. Black bass are good on watermelon red and redbug soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Striped bass are fair on minnows and white striper jigs. White bass are fair on minnows and white striper jigs. Crappie are good on minnows. Catfish are fair on frozen shrimp and stinkbait.
