Basin Welding acquired by Airgas

Basin Welding Supply has been purchased by Airgas Inc., a Radnor, Pa.-based distributor of industrial, medical and specialty gases, welding equipment and supplies.

The purchase of Basin Welding Supply was effective Saturday and included the purchase of Wright Welding Supply Inc. of Des Moines, Iowa, and Main­land Weld­ing Sup­plies Ltd. of Surrey, British Columbia.

Brent Sparks, president of Airgas Southwest, said the former owner Randy Squibb and Scott Joyce, who operated the company, had made it successful.

“In the past five years,” he said, “Scott and his vice president of sales, Chad Brooks, have done an excellent job growing the business.

“We are pleased to welcome them and another eight employees from Basin who will give us better coverage in West Texas,” he said.

Sparks also noted Basin’s new fill plant in Odessa which opened in February will improve capabilities to fill packaged gases for customers in Odessa and the surrounding area.
