[AP] Doctor in nurse retaliation surrenders license
AUSTIN A doctor accused of retaliating against two whistle-blowing West Texas nurses has agreed to surrender his medical license.
Dr. Rolando G. Arafiles signed an agreed order with the Texas Medical Board Friday stating he will stop practicing medicine.
Arafiles is expected to enter a guilty plea Monday in Kermit in a case in which he's charged with two counts of felony misuse of official information and retaliation.
The case stems from Arafiles' attempt to have Winkler County Sheriff Robert Roberts investigate who complained about him to the medical board. Roberts identified the nurses, who were fired and charged with felonies.
Both Roberts and former Winkler County Attorney Scott Tidwell have been convicted of retaliation.
No phone number is listed for Arafiles in Victoria, where he has been practicing medicine.
