ODESSA Adela Alaniz, 80, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at Medical Center Hospital. She was born September 8, 1926 in Fort Stockton, Texas to Pedro Gonzales and Refugia Vigil. She was a Christian Catholic and a homemaker. She united in marriage to Johnny Alaniz Sr. March 5, 1945 in Fort Stockton, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Pedro and Refugia V. Gonzales and sister: Rosa Gonzales.

She is survived by her husband: Johnny Alaniz Sr. of Odessa; son: Johnny Alaniz Jr. of Odessa; daughter: Manuelita (Frank) Arguello of Austin, Texas; sister: Juanita Odell of Tampa, Florida; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-granddaughters. Several nieces, nephews, and lots of friends also survive her.

We the Alaniz family would like to thank each and every one of you for your prayers, floral and food offerings, and especially with your presence with us during this most difficult time. May God bless each and every one of you abundantly. A special thank you to the staffs of Dr.’s Neerukonda, Parekh, Kodityl and Regency Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Frank Allan Arguello, Brad Coleman, Abel Anaya, Rene Baza, Ryan Attaway and David Bell. A Rosary will be said tonight at 7:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend Joseph Uecker officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services by Odessa Funeral Home.
