The UTPB School of Business is committed to providing students with the educational foundation needed for life-long learning and success. UTPB’s business bachelor’s and master’s degrees have been ranked among the best in the nation for providing best teaching practice, student engagement, student services and technology by US News & World Report.

The faculty members strive to continuously improve the business curricula, giving students a cutting-edge educational experience.

“It is the desire of the School of Business faculty that students develop skills and knowledge that will help them advance in their career endeavors, present and future. To help achieve this goal, courses are designed to provide the foundation of knowledge that is both current and relevant to the course topics. It is our aim to help students develop those skills that employers will value and reward,” said business dean Jack Ladd.

Students in the School of Business have numerous opportunities as they advance in their chosen disciplines to take courses that offer "real" projects with real problems that real organizations struggle to solve. In doing so, students are challenged in ways in which they may expect to be challenged by their employers.

The School of Business offers three undergraduate degrees with a total of six majors. Students may elect to receive the traditional bachelor of business administration degree with a major in accounting, finance, management or marketing. Students may also select the bachelor of arts degree with a major in economics or the bachelor of science degree with a major in industrial technology or mechanical engineering.

UTPB also offers an outstanding master’s program, as recognized by US News & World Report. The School of Business has graduate programs leading to a master of business administration (MBA) degree in management and a master of professional accountancy (MPA) degree. UTPB also offers an online MBA program.

Both the MBA and the MPA are professional programs designed to prepare individuals for business endeavors, although some students will proceed to doctoral level preparation. Emphasis on different types of organizations including small and entrepreneurial firms, service firms, and government is included to serve the needs of the region. Graduate courses are offered in the evening to accommodate students who are employed while working toward an advanced degree.

The MBA Online in General Management provides today's students with the tools necessary to become leaders in the workplace of tomorrow. This degree is offered by a consortium of University of Texas campuses. Courses taken in this program are treated as U.T. Permian Basin courses for credit and computation of grade point average. Students may take MBA courses on campus and MBA Online courses to complete the MBA degree. Students who cannot commute regularly to the U.T. Permian Basin campus because of distance or time constraints are encouraged to consider MBA Online courses.

For more information on any of these degree programs, visit www.UTPB.edu or call the university at 552-2020.
