A 21-year-old Big Spring man was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child after it was reported he told a 6-year-old child he could take pictures of the boy’s penis and then stuck a finger in the boy’s anus.
Jace Delane Mince, 7206 S. Service Road, Big Spring, was being held Friday at the Ector County Detention Center awaiting bond. Court documents show Mince was residing at the 300 block of Alabama Street in Odessa.
On Monday, a report of aggravated sexual assault of a child was made to the Ector County Sheriff’s Office about a supposed Aug. 18 incident, an arrest affidavit stated.
That day a 6-year-old male was visiting a friend residing at the residence where Mince was living, the affidavit stated.
Sometime during the day, Mince gave his cell phone to the 6-year-old and told him it was “OK” to take pictures of his penis, the affidavit stated. Mince then pulled the boy’s pants down and inserted a finger into the boy’s anus, the affidavit stated. It was not clear from the document whether photos were actually made, and questions to the sheriff’s office were referred to a spokesman who was not available Friday.
The boy made an outcry against Mince and give his story to an employee at Harmony Home, the affidavit stated.
The Texas Department of Public Safety sex offender website states Mince was previously convicted of indecency with a child in 2001 regarding an 8-year-old boy. Mince was sentenced to 9 years but paroled, and made to register as a sex offender until 2020.
